Scott:

I'm sending in $100 for Jack PAYPAL. Also let him know that I have several disks of his pictures. When he is ready, just ask and I'll send him in copies.

This is gut-wrenching... my wife and I are "cat people" as well, and can only imagine that losing two of your three "furry kids" must be positively horrific. Jack, I'm tremendously thankful that you yourself are ok, and that you were able to rescue the pets you did- I am so sorry to hear of the rest of the losses, though. I'll gladly help with rebuilding your pic collection digitally with anything I can share out of my own files (to which you have contributed so selflessly, I might add).

Take care of yourself, Jack-

Lynn and Debi Ritger

It really saddened me to hear about this happening. I don't really know what to say. I don't really know Jack, but know the pictures that he's posted. One thing I do know is that he is into aviation history, which makes good guy in my books. I hope he is able to get back on his feet quickly and re-join the WIX family. Our thoughts are with you and your family!!! As well, my girlfriend and I are saddened by your losses of your two cats. We have a cat of our own and could not imagine losing her.

Cheers and good luck!

-David

I was deeply saddened to learn of Jack's misfortune. I'm a real "cat person", so I was extra-sad to learn that two of Jack's "furry children" were lost. I am relieved that Jack and the rest of the Cook family are okay!

There's nothing that we can do to bring back the lives and the things that were lost, but we can all pitch in to help the Cooks begin building a new life. I'm in for $100 (via PayPal). How about the rest of you good folks? Even $5 or $10 (multiplied by a few hundred WIXers) will make a big difference to a FRIEND who is very much in need right now!

A check is in the mail.

I can't even imagine how terrible this must be, and while physically safe, losing your pets and treasures has got to be devastating. Our prayers are with your family Jack.........

The High-res scans may not be a total loss. It all depends on the condition of the drives in the PC. Water and smoke can knock out a computer, but data recovery folks can get just about anything off a drive, for enough money. Obviously, there are going to be more important things for Jack to worry about in the near future, but if his machine's not completely gone, there may be some hope.

We found a PC in the remains of our old hangar and managed to get the drive out. After the fire and spending the winter outside, the drive case and controller board were a total loss, but you cold see the platters were likely intact. There is probably salvageable data there, though there's nothing important enough to bother with on that dive.

God speed Jack.

Scott, how far back into the archives of the WIX postings can we go to retrieve Jack's images?

I'm sure it is not 10,000, but there must be a lot still on file that can be recovered (backed up, as it were)

Yes?

Jack,

How horrible - what a heartbreak to lose your home and come close to losing your life. My prayers are with you and your family for a speedy recovery; I've sent a donation via PayPal and I hope it will be of some help.
