We're talking about a modern, current, front-line Soviet plane here, not some ancient technology prop plane - there's a big difference, IMO.

There are no plans to modifiy the nose gear. We don't see any need for that, since there's no record of it being a problem. And like you said, the airplanes are going to operated in quite a bit different environment over here. Not only that, but they'll no doubt be "babied" by any future owners -- wouldn't you?
