I found my way to Carson. I was hoping to spot a number of HU-16s on the ramp. I was able to find one at the location I had assigned to American Warbirds.

Someone graciously allowed me access to the ramp and I was able to get some nice shots as a result.



I then continued my trek around the airport to see what I could see. I was able to find a few more airframes of interest. You can find their locations marked here when I spotted them...

I left Carson city and headed north for Reno. I was planning on stopping at the airport to get photos of the F-4 at the ANG gate. Finding a place to park while taking a photo is very difficult to do. I did get a shot, but it wasn't as nice as Andy West's, so I'll just post his here.

Great Pics Mike!!!!

Your 1st Huey 67-17146 Served in Vietnam from Nov 68 to Feb 71 with the 281 Aslt Helicopter,155 ASLT and 61st AHC

Your 2nd Slick on the pole, 66-16654 from Sept 67 to AUG 70 serving with the 335th ASLT, and 170 Aslt in Vietnam. It looks like she had a habbit of picking up stuff with her rotor wash!!! on 9-7-68 she picked up some PSP from the rotor wash and ripped off a skid. Then in Feb 69 a Cooking pan lid blew off from a RVN soldier and came up and hit the main rotor blade causing damage.

You got some good girls on film :D

Great set of photos as well as a very nicely planned aviation oriented trip...my kind of vacation!!! Sorry that we did not connect up at Mather Field on 9/11. I wish I had known that you had the T-33 in Los Gatos included in your intinerary as I live THREE blocks away. Prior to the T-33 there was a FJ-4 Fury.

Awesome pics Mike. I've done a lot of museum trips where I try to hit five or six in four days or so but never done quite as extensive a driving trip hitting even the roadside hulks. I need to do that some day soon.

can you tell me where that corsair lives...i cant seem to put together the info?
