Man, that postcard brings back memories, Chunks. I used to stare at one like it thumbtacked above my desk in our little farmhouse. Mom would catch me looking at the CAF airplanes instead of doing my homework and say "I swear I must have been scared by an airplane when I was carrying you because that is all you think about!" She wasn't far from wrong, either. 8)

The B-17 Class of 44 is indeed Sentimental Journey, but it was called that before it was purchased by the CAF. At the time it was still owned by Aero Union, and had the name put on after they decieded to sell it. It was Class of 44 for less than a year. The name Sentimental Journey was picked from a state wide name the plane contest. The B-17 was purchased by Mike Clarke and donated to the Az wing of the CAF. Mike also owned the P-51 Unruly Julie, AKA the Chino cow killer in later life.

YES!!!!!!! All the T-bolts.......wow (jaw drops to the floor) I cant get enough of seeing them all together like that.

Any idea how the paint schemes came about? Did they just try to cover the bases of T-bolt operation in the war?

EXCELLENT PHOTOS ALL!!

The only way I know of to safely clean the dust is with air...I don't trust brushes or wipes...

I like that T-6, "72". Can you read the N number on your original?

Here are some I took. It was my first time with a 35mm camera so I appologize for the quality. My files say they are from 1983 but I think some of 82 or 84 have been stuck in there as well.

Well, you can come out to Austin Acres and take all the pictures of the first one you posted that you wish. :-)

Gary[/quote]

Just be sure to snap one or two of the dirt dobbers and take Gary a can of Raid.

Somewhere, I think deep among my dad's old slides is an MIA roll of 35 mm pix of Rebel Field from spring break 1972. I believe the T-bolts were still in Peruvian colors.

Scott, good stuff, dude. Got any more of the Catalinas, especially N16KL?

All you guys so generously sharing you memories....don't apologize for the quality. The fact that you have it to begin with is more important in my opinion.

Doug Ratchford.
