Because 'any fool can ask a question that a wise man can't answer'.

Now before you go off on one, I'm neither suggesting you are a fool and I'm certainly no wise man. But it's easy to pose unanswerable questions. I can't see the point on this but it's been fun discussing it, so thanks for that.

But getting hot don't help anyone.

What was the point in the question, by the way?

& JDK try contributing rather than responding. You seem to annoy people when you're not satisfied with a thread being posted.

Thanks for the advice. I have my reasons which are good enough for me, as you clearly have yours.

Now, where were we on these stripe things? Anyone answered the Lanc tailstripes in 1945 question?

I like airplanes.

They make me warm and fuzzy.

Now that's funny. So do lots of other people,.

D'you recon the real reason was to give everyone in the D Day area the warm and fuzzies?

(And seriously, seeing lots of 'ours' I understand causes a warm and fuzzy to the guys on the ground and sea - when they aren't shooting at them first...)

I could give a darn, bud. it's just sort of embarassing taht you come into a trhead about twice a week, scream at everybody, sling mud, and then stalk off into the night mmuttering about pinko commie fags, or whatever has pissed you off that day. Lighten up, man, it's a freaking web site.

What an awkward question. Do you need a complicated answer? The simple answer is Allied aircraft involved in the D-Day operations and area.

I didn't think it was so awkward a question, & I don't know about you, but I support posts that have anything & everything to do with warbirds over such topics as politics anyday. I may have a hot temper, but I certainly don't insult anyone's posts about anything unless you try to insult me. Does that make sense to you?

Yup. What was the point in asking, though?

If you have an interest, which actually I don't anymore, read the posts above and you"ll see where I started to lose my temper. I wouldn't have said what you said (and others). It's insulting. maybe not to you, but it is to me. I show people respect on this board, no matter what they may post. If it's a silly question I simply don't post, I'll move on. I still show respect, unless someone starts to try to insult me. I'll never sit back & be insulted.

I'm sorry you were offended. However that was not my intention. Maybe you need to lighten or toughen up? We can play nicey-nicey or learn stuff, some of which shows us as ignorant or wrong, and often uncomfortable. It's just life. Personally, I could wrap posts in nice, but sometimes I don't. As kenylco showed recently, 'please' and 'thank you' can cut no ice.

Fighting on the internet's as impressive as a not-very-impressive thing. Let's move on, eh?

But I'm still curious as to what you really wanted to know from the original question - As has been said, it's easier to say which aircraft were painted, and why they were painted (which I tried to do) rather than those which were not - especially if the criteria discussed includes Russian aircraft that must have been a thousand miles from the D Day zone. I'm actually interested in knowing...

Regards,

Will you stand-up to be insulted?

Let me refresh, I posted on page 1, "Having a super slow day? :D "
That was the insult that started it all. Truly a vicious statement on my part.

And here is where the name calling starts, Hellcats reply, "Nope, are you? .... kook!"

It's pretty much been a barrel of laughs for me so far.

And we could go back there and pretend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt over the ease of misunderstanding joking / insults on the internet.

So let's pretend, eh? Frankly, page 6 isn't worth looking at anyway.

Because this is all, clearly, a smokescreen for Muddy to avoid coughing up the $20 to wix for being nailed fair and square on the Lanc fin stripes. :D

Anyway, thanks to this I've learned something, and I've a Lancaster gunner to e-mail. Bye.

All I know is I enjoyed the debate, and James won fair and square. However, we now have to argue about the meaning of this:

I don't remember actually taking the bet. I just gave ole' James the 20 he kept asking for.

But James, as soon as I'm employed and not living on what I can catch with a pole or shoot, you can bet Wix and Bill G are going to bother be recieving more than 20 buck
