Hello,

Recently purchased what i tought was a very standard Britsh gunsight, but after some cleaning, it turned out to be a Mk IIN

Can find reference and doc about the Mk II, MK IIS, Mk II* and Mk IIL but nothing about this Mk IIN.

Anybody got any idea ? Does the N stand for Night ?

The "N" could very well stand for night. The Luftwaffe also used the "N" designation for thier night sights, i. e. Revi 16N.

Which sight do you have? There are a couple of British Mk. II's, the more common Barr & Stroud or the late war gyro. Could you post a pic?

I have quit a few gunsight books and manuals and the MK IIN is over looked.
Shine a flashlight up thru the graticule and see what type of pattern gets reflected. Is there an adjustment, perhaps internal to filter the amount of or color of light thru the graticule? I know the German & Japanese sights have this capability.
