I thought some of you would like to see some photos of the last AJ-2 Savage during it's "working" days. For years it was an engne test bed for Avco Lycoming in Stratford, CT. I always loved this airplane and it's probably my favorite post WWII bomber. (maybe because I used to see it all the time at the airport!)
It spent a lot of time on the old Vought Ramp.
BuNo.130418, N68667, spent some time as a firebomber after it's military career before begin recycled as a flying test bed.

During the early 1980's the last AJ-2 was aquired by the Naval Aviation Museum and flown to Pensecola, FL. Alas, it has not been brought it in from the outside weather. It was sad to see it leave, but I'm glad it's been saved and not scrapped.

Does anyone know what happened to the partial AJ-2 airframe that was spotted in Philidelphia back in the 1970's?
Blue skies,
Jerry
