Is there someone outhere who knows where to buy decent and affordable WW.2 clothing/flightsuits ?

I am looking for a XL USN flightsuit from WW.2.

Problem is that XL sizes are rare.

Cheers, André

I have purchased the AN S31 flight suit from What Price Glory, and the quality was good EXCEPT- the fabric edge which is supposed to lay over the zipper, gaps widely. I still wear it, but right out of the washer, it doesn't look too good. I don't know how his USN suits are, but if the quality is similar to the AN S31, they are probably good.

My father's Korean-era flightsuit from when he was an SB-29 Flight Engineer was blue nylon.

I didn't think too much of it being made of nylon until I'd all ready spent some time flying in the military...I ran across it at my folks' house, and my reaction was something like this:

the problem with original ww 2 flight gear / anything ww2 period uniform oriented is the fact that the average male was 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 9 in height back then. yes, you can sprinkle some 6 footers in their & plus that size, but the latter is the majority. same holds true with original ww 2 shoes & hats / helmets. original uniform jacket sizes averaged size 36 on the low, 40 on the high. as to hats........ 7 1/4 to 7 1/2, shoes / boots average ww 2 size 8 on the low, size 9 to the high. case in point...... i have a b-24 pilot's seat in my office. i'm 5 ft 9 inches tall, 186 lbs. my keester barely fits in that seat!!! people back then were plain & simple of smaller stature. now a days kids are like giants. my teenager boys are already over a size 9 shoe. i don't know if it's genetics, food additives or what, but kids today are towering over their parents at earlier ages now more than ever. ladies..... no offense....... teenage girls have bigger boobs than their mommy's that are in their 30's & 40's!!! search ebay.... large & original uniform or accessory items for sale are a rarity, ya better snap them up because there ain't alot around plain & simple. also beware, large size reproductions for sale abound, right down to the maker's spec tags on the uniform item, & nearly indistinguishible from the real thing.

a few more points.......... vintage ww 2 leather dry rots under even the most expert climate control conditions, whether in a top notch museum or not, it cannot take the wear & tear of re-enacting events long term. on display, it still slowly craps out in the same manner, & must be displayed with utmost care.
