A series of devastating storms went straight across Florida, hitting DeLand, New Smyrna Beach, Lake County, and others... tornadoes were reported northwest of the NSB airport as well as elsewhere, which is where the Collings Foundation birds spend the winter.

I did talk with my brother in Ormond Beach this AM, and he and his family are safe (thank God)... here's hoping all our WIX friends in the area are safe as well

Pop lives in a town called The Villages near Lady Lake. He made it though with only minor damage but less than two miles away there is nothing left but chaff. I told him not to leave Minnesota...heck it was only 10 below zero at my house this morning!

We flew from Marco Island to Stuart this afternoon with no problems...both bombers are safe and sound. The 25 is still in New Smyrna and was unscathed.

We were so lucky. That line was just to the north of us, we did get lots of rain and wind at 0500-0530hrs. I feel bad for all those people affected. :(

I have a flight lesson on Saturday. I train out at Sanford (KSFB) FLA, if it hasn't been canceled. Deland is not that far from there.

I'm in the 12 Oaks RV Resort on West Highway 46 near the Wekiva River in Seminole County about 3 miles east of the Lake County line.We got some wild weather with strong winds and very heavy rain/thunder,lightning,etc. move through around 0500,but the line of tornadoes passed about 5 miles to my north, thank God.There was mass destruction where they did hit, with 19 fatlities,as of last report.
