There was quite alot of P-61 talk about 2 years ago...a couple of hulks pulled from PNG or somewhere and the Chinese P-61 possibly sold.

Haven't heard much lately...anything circulating?

I think Paul Allen bought one from Asia, probably the one in China, I don't know for sure.

I strongly suspect that there was no truth whatsoever in the rumours of the pair which supposedly passed through Australia and via a storage company in Manchester, UK to Paul Allen - the source of those rumours proved somewhat less than reliable unfortunately and the promised photos never in fact existed.

I'd love to be proved wrong on this, but all the evidence points to the contrary.

As for the Beijing example, apparently it's still there.

I think Mike is right. I wish they were here, but from what I heard from a NMUSAF member that saw the P-61 in China, it is bad. He said that he would be surprised if it would fall apart if they tried to move it.

When I inpspected the Bejing P-61 back in 1990, it was in serious trouble due to corrosion. I'm sure it's worse by now. Years of exposure to the Bejing "soft coal" air have really taken a toll. Still, it could be and indeed should be saved.

Very true. I heard that someone wanted to buy it, but they wanted s ton of money for it. I can not remember how much, but it was alot.

What's the history on this one? How did it end up in the museum in Bejing?

Years ago Weeks put in a nice sized bid but they were not interested in selling.

Here's the supposed history of the P-61 in Beijing.

Those gun barrels don't look genuine to me, look more like little black pipes someone made up as dummy barrels. I'm probably wrong, though.

They say it is a P-61A, but was one of three P-61Cs seized? I suppose they rebuilt it to earlier model standards????

Pipes look kind of thick to me, might just be gun barrels.
