Flying Heritage Collection's ME 262

Does anyone here know the status of the FHC's Me 262A-1a/U3, Werk Nr. 500453, originally White 25

I know she is under restoration to airworthiness with reworked Jumo 004s

I was just wondering if anyone here knew where 500453 stands in relation to flying?

The Jumo Engines for the Flying Heritage ME-262 are going to be rebuilt by Aero Turbine here at Stockton Airport in California. Doug Clayton, the owner of Aero Turbine, is a very impressive gentleman and I have no doubt that he will be able to make the Jumo 004's safe and reliable.

I spent a week with Doug at the National Archives and NASM researching and collecting information on the Jumo engine for FHC. I have known Doug for a while but getting to know him on this trip was a real pleasure. He has been building turbine engines for a long time and he has a vast network of vendors and contractors who are going to help to make the Flying Heritage engines meet modern engine TBO times.

This project would only be possible with the backing of someone with the resources of Paul Allen. Obviously it will not be an inexpensive project but thankfully Mr. Allen is quite enthusiastic about this the ME-262, and other axis aircraft, so budgetary constraints will not be an issue as they are with other FHC aircraft.

I feel lucky that we will hear a Jumo 004 engine run here at Stockton for the first time in 60+ years.

What kind of engines were fitted in this 501244 which flew at ILA 2006 ?
I heard they were former Hansa Jet engines but have no details or confirmation about them.

So the JUMO engines would be based on the originals ?

I am not an expert in Warbirds and only tend to get them in front of my camera. No doubt the presentation of the ME-262 at ILA 2006 was very interesting.

My understanding was that these engine were going to be original Jumo units with the high fail components replaced with newer tech materials and alloys. (I could be mistaken though)
