I can't believe I did this, but I (actually....we - my hubby and I) just bought a 1948 L-17 NAvion. Some assembly required :)
Major cool stuff and kinda scary at the same time. Once we pick it up (it's in CO) and start working, I'll share pictures.

Good luck! Where in Colorado is it and what shape is it in? Is it one to rebuild or is it flyable?

it's in Fort Collins.
appears to be in very good shape. needs a couple of the ADs addressed and a little bit of other work, but theoretically, could be flown home. we're going to drive out and bring it back on a flatbed. we already have LOTS of folks offering to help with the work. and of course, being volunteers as POF...... :D

Cindy, is that by any chance Tom's plane at QG? That is the shop that has maintained my plane for 24 years.

Where will you be doing the work? Are you renting a hangar?

Bill....no it's not - although that would be cool

Brandon....don't know yet. There's not much space at the museum for doing the work, but we'll store it there initially. I'll probably look at renting a hangar in the next couple weeks.

A Navion comes from the same minds that brought us The Mustang!
Don't you have to know somebody to get a hangar at Chin...never mind.
Congrats and all the best.

Congratulations! You will have a ball. I used to fly my partner's 225 hp
Navion. They are rock solid stable. Great short field performers. One of the roomiest cabins in general aviation. They also do great aileron rolls, but you didn't hear that from me.

Sounds like a fun trip. I forget how many times I’ve hauled an aircraft over the road. Let us know how many people come up to talk to at stops. It seems like this does not happen as much as, say, ten years ago.
