The following piece of wreckage from an F6F-5 Hellcat was located at a crash site on Yap Island. Can someone help identify this piece of wreckage? It looks be made of stainless steal and was very heavy (25 pounds). Please see the following pictures.

Did F6F have cartridge starters? Might be the starter plenum for a cartridge starter.
