I received the new Warbird Digest today. A nice two page article outlining the recent effort by WIX'ers Gary Austin and Mark Pilkington to save the former CAF PBY. The role of WIX in the effort is discussed prominently. Gary contributed the pictures for the article (Gary, do you ever sleep?). It's nice to see North America's premiere warbird journal recognize WIX. Congratulations to Gary and Mark for this effort and to Scott for fostering a constructive community that's helping the warbird movement!

Same here. It was a shock to see that. How cool is this place. I mean think of how great it is when you need to know someting about a warbird or a restoration, and the pilots, crews, owners, and restoration team is here to answer them. Now this place has played a role in saving a PBY, and putting guns in a B-24A! It is really cool to be a small part of such a great place.

The WIX community is a force to be reckoned with. The recent "Guns for Lil" campaign is proof of that. I would also not be surprised to see WIX recieveing more mention in the future.

I was pleasantly surprised by the article. It made me very proud of this place that we have all built.

It's hard to believe I am going into my 5th season with Collings and I have Scott and his "our" WIX site to thank for it. Thanks again Scott...and Ryan.

I just thought I'd add that I think WIX is great.

I don't know what I'd do without it. I'm making some connections with awesome people and also realizing that there are a lot of people just like me out there.

Cheers,

David

that is one of the things that I am most proud of Jim. That this site had the ability to affect your life in such a dramatic way is one of the things that made it all worthwhile.

thats what prompted me to form this forum in the first place. There were losts of us out there. When I saw pictures of the Gathering of Mustangs in 99 and so many pictures were from photographers standing near me I realized we should have a place to get together and meet others with the same sickness...er... passion we all share. And now the highlight of my year is Geneseo and getting to hang out with WIX members who have become great friends over the years. And we are just getting started. The site as a whole is growing and more and more people are joining and making our community the finest in the world!

Although I obviously knew about Tim putting the article in the latest issue of Warbird Digest, I've not yet read it as my magazine is probably sitting in my mailbox in Midland. Ironically, I'm in a hotel room in Brownsville, TX right now, as I'm working hard to reunite the wings for the PBY with it's fuselage.

Scott, thanks again for everything you've done with WIX. It's a wonderful tool for me and I have learned a tremendous amount about these ol' jalopies by being able to participate in some of the wonderful threads on this forum.

Scott, congrats on the article... I think that's amazing. You've built a place that myself and (clearly) many many more people really enjoy. I can't imagine my long days at work without WIX! It's a real pleasure being a member of this site! Keep up the good work! I am proud to be a member and to have the interaction with so many other wonderful warbird enthusiasts!

I am going to have to see if I can find a copy of it out here in my neck of the woods, I would absolutely love to read it! (I ought to just subscribe!) :)

P.S. So, I went out on a whim last night and bought a new laptop, mine crashed while installing my FAA exam study material on Sunday... but now that I have a much much faster computer at home... I think I might be on WIX 24/7. Darn interesting WIX! I am going to become a hermit!

And thanks to this site, I was able to talk to my uncle for the last time....I am very thankful as regrettably I was not as close as I used to be to my uncle when I made that call about the PBY. No WIX, no thread by Ztex, no phone call.
