Actually the story is true, but the Hollywood version may still be crap.
"Little Dieter Needs to Fly" was a documentary that came out about 10 years ago and I saw it on HBO. He was born in Germany but was an American citizen who flew in Viet Nam.
Very interesting story and documentary.

Yes, I saw the doc on PBS.

After 10 seconds of the preview, I was ready to throw up.

That's really too bad.

That "Skyraider" tail when the explosion occurs looks an awful lot like a T-6 tail...?

Get a copy of Dengler's book. It's a great story!

I didn't know Dirk Diggler flew in Vietnam. I did like his performance in "Boogie Nights".

Just a weak attempt at humor. Surely you have some great Skyraider photos to post and help me get my mind right. :D :D :D

the trailer looked sugar to me

incorrect flightgear using us army SPH-4 helmets what the hell?, they used nomex flight suits.. all wrong

deiter used US navy APH-6 helmets and US navy flight suits.. they could be found on ebay any day cheap if the producers had bothered.

Whats the stupid take off scene? it aint a us carrier but a italian or french carrioer how stupid...

i might go see movie but might be a vocal critic
