Thanks for the photos Randy. I wonder if there are any plans to get all or some of them inside someday?

Thanks for posting the pictures Randy. That's a pretty nice collection that looks fairly well kept, all things considered.

There are plans to get them indoors, but it is in the drawing board stages right now.

Yikes! The birds must love those opened up engines on the B-24...

Strange how in some ways the aircraft look well cared for i.e. polished, nice paint, clear windows, etc. In other ways there are problems, mainly the fabric control surfaces are rotted away. You would think they could engage the base (Barksdale) for assistance in covering the flight controls with sheet metal (typically done on outdoor display aircraft)...

You would think since the museum is beyond the gate to barksdale AFB that they would have some say on it.

Some years back I stopped by and paid a visit and I remember the wasps
and birds had had a field day building nests in the nacelles and cowlings of most of the planes, but this is better than corrosion and vandalism...Tom

It's my understanding that the Hurricanes in 2005 were largely responsible for the condition of the control surfaces on nearly every aircraft.
