I received this today from Larry Kelley, owner of Panchito. I was hoping this was not true with R Lee, but I guess they prevailed on him. Sad loss, as he was genuine if nothing else...
Up until last week, Episode 96 of Mail Call was scheduled for Friday, February 16th at 9pm. Episode 96 was the first episode of new season for Mail Call on the History Channel and would be the 8th season for the program. Something has happened and I cannot find out what is going on. Suddenly last week, the History Channel changed their website schedule for Mail Call and now only have reruns scheduled for the program. I have seen the production company DVD for Episode 96 and the DAV /Panchito segment was part 5 of Episode 96 and was an excellent segment.
I have emailed the History Channel and asked what is happening to the Mail Call programming and asked that they continue with the new season of Mail Call. I have not received a reply yet. I suspect the "suits" at the History Channel (A&E TV) has planned to go into reruns of the program and quietly not air the new programming that has already been submitted.
Maybe others should also request that Mail Call be continued with the new 8th year season and not just re-runs of episodes we have all seen. The History Channel has apparently shut down their "Email to Ermy" minisite:
http://www.history.com/minisites/mailcall#. I have not been able to get on it for the past week.
