The order was approved April 30, 1942 with instructions to implement as soon as operations permitted, which of course varied by situation but usually was accomplisehd by mid-May.

Ducimus Books' "Camouflage & Markings - Supermarine Spitfire RAF Northern Europe 1936-45" James Goulding (long out of print).
That is where I looked when you asked. However I am sure there are many other sources available.

That is where I looked too; still an excellent source after all these years. There is also Bowyer's classic Fighting Colours:RAF Fighter Camouflage and Markings 1937-1969 and there was also a book on RAF colors/markings put out, IIRC, by the RAF Museum that probably cites the specific order, but I'm not near my bookshelf right now to check it.

Yes August, there are many books.
The Ducimus books are a good source, however recent research has been uncovered that contradicts some of the information in the older books, including Ducimus. Have you seen the "Guideline Publications" series "Camouflage & Markings"? You will find a wealth of "new" information in these, especially No.2 "The Battle For Britain - RAF May to December 1940" by Paul Lucas. This is a real eye opener when dealing with colours used by the RAF.
