WW2 wreck
BANGKOK: Three amateur explorers from the United States have uncovered the wreckage of a downed American World War Two plane in the remote jungles of northern Myanmar, local media reported on Sunday. The semi-official Myanmar Times newspaper said that three members of the New York-based Explorers Club were battling through the thick forest of the country’s northern Sagaing Division when they stumbled upon the aircraft. Brenda Davidson, Nancy Nenow and Don Morley heard rumours of the plane from tribesmen on previous trips to the military-run state formally known as Burma, and set off from the town of Hkamti armed with metal detectors on January 13. They finally found the wreck—which included parts of the plane’s pumps, generator and landing gear—after trekking with a guide and porters for about 13 days, the newspaper said.
