Greetings from a new member.
Last year I was given the daunting task of digitizing the FPL image collection. I am now 2/3 through it. During the process I became passionate about TBM Avengers and their use in the NB Spray program.
I now have official permission and encouragement from FPL management to go ahead with a project on TBMs during the New Brunswick budworm spray period from the late 60s to the 80s. I don't know what final form this project will take, but at the very least I will be compiling images and text, i.e. a history of the period, concentrating on the Avengers.
So far, I have many images of TBMs, which range from very good to unidentifiable. I have been trying to put them all into the proper context (owner, spray teams, dates, etc.), and I still need some images to fill in the gaps that I am sure are there, especially in the period when the FPL leased the aircraft from companies in the US and Canada in the 50s to the 70s.
I have used the Warbirds Avenger pages as a basis for this project. This is an incredible resource and you should all be proud of it!
I am looking for images of TBMs during the period above: digital if you have them or as slides, negs or prints if not. I am set up to scan anything at my desk, so if you want something of yours scanned or rescanned, I would be happy to do it. Properly labelled images (with subject, date, location) are best. I am sure I can reciprocate with some, as well, and I will eventually add some images to the Avenger pages.
(Although I am FPL employee, I actually work for one of the scientists involved in integrated pest management at the Canadian Forest Service - Atlantic Forestry Centre office in Fredericton, NB.)
