Now that the two remaining Martin Mars are about retire, what will be the most appropriate colour scheme for them to be preserved in?
They certainly look the most handsom in the US Navy dark blue but they spent most of their lives and did their best work in red and white.
A soon as I win the lottery, by the way, they will both be joining me hear in the U.K. and be painted in any colour I feel like! :D

Pilot Officer King,
As a seaplane chap myself, I'll go for the red and white. Like we say on this side of the pond, 'it grabs me.'

cheers

Not to be pedantic, but they'll only be "about to retire" if the winning bid for them is from a museum. They haven't yet been sold.

As for the question, two aircraft means that you can paint one blue and leave the other in its current colours. :D

Good call Mark,

I figure the Mars that hopefully (fingers crossed) will stay in Port Alberni will keep the red and white, while the other going to the Martin museum would be in Navy blue.

I hope this is the case because I think this is the nicest ending to the story, in my opinion.

As was said, the red and white scheme "grabs me" also. However, I agree that the best and most logical ending to the story would be a Red and White one in British Columbia and one in Maryland being painted in the original 1950s Navy Blue scheme.

If one does come to Maryland, at least we would initially be able to enjoy seeing it in the beautiful Red and White before being repainted.

:)
