That is wild! And she was built right here in San Diego!

Well, the Aerospace here wants a B-24 cockpit for display, heck, they can take it on tour with that thing!

I wonder how complete it is inside

After looking at the pic I have a feeling it's just a shell (I could be wrong though). Anytime somebody turns part of an old bomber into a camper trailer it's a safe bet that little if anything original is still intact.

:vom: no dignity for that heap!!! what an ignominious ending to a once proud warbird. even a redneck would have more self respect than to live / camp in that!! cripes.... i'd take it & make a restored cockpit to display at airshows!!

I remember seeing this "cockpit" on an old thread or another website. I am pretty sure it's in Australia at one of the museums. I think the camper maker rescued it from a scrap yard (even butchered, something saved is better than nothing!). Now to find the original thread or site, CRS has kicked in!

Yeah, it was in the strange civilian uses for aircraft thread.

Here is a B-24 (42-41182) which was written off after a hard landing in 1944 at Long Airfield, Northern Territory, Australia. When the war was over the nose section was sold to a preacher who converted the nose section into a caravan. He toured the Outback extensively with it to spread the word. It changed ownership a couple of times afterwards, and it ended up at a caravan park near Perth, WA. It was rediscovered in the late 80's and flown to Darwin where it is now on display in the Aviation Heritage Centre.
