Warbird Information Exchange

So I heard that nice sound of a round motor today. Looked up and spotted a (very) low T-6, Yellow, in USAAF markings, and a large TA - ? on the side of the fuselage, heading south over Elkhart, IN.

Any guesses as to the owner? Today was a LOUSY day to be flying. Low ceiling, and t-storms all around.

On Tuesday, saw Yellow Rose (B-25) landing San Antonio International mid morning. Not sure why but she looked nice

I see warbirds fly all year long and I still get tears in my eyes. Every time we stand on the flight line and watch one of our birds fly somebody always says "Boy! I hope I never take this for granted"!
Boy! I never will!

I was spoiled rotten when I lived in Michigan. Spoiled like Paris Hilton rotten. Roush's Mustang(s) or T-6, Any of the Yankee aircraft, The assorted L-39's, "Psycho" Ward's Mig-17. There were tons of warbirds in the area, and you could look up catch somebody out farting around at least a couple times a month, and that's when I *wasn't* hanging out at the Hangar.

Since I moved to Indiana? I saw a tri-motor last fall and today's T-6. Pickens are pretty darn slim around here.

I heard a radial a few weeks back. But it was too far away you could hardly hear it.

Not much warbirds fly around here. Once in a while a CH-47 will fly over or a Blackhawk. But thats about it.

Now, we have a lot of seagulls flying around our area. Kinda weird since we live in the backwoods of Pennsylvania!!

Seagulls - often blown inland by storms or fly inland to avoid them & stay for the pickins at the dumps/landfills.

I live right next to the Georgetown, TX airport and am treated to the occasional deep engine sounds of the CAF's Devil Dog whenever she stretches her legs. Regular visitors also include Army aviators from Fort Hood with their Blackhawks and Apaches.

A couple of months ago, there was a very deep rumbling heard through out the house, when we went outside and looked up, Aluminum Overcast was circling the field (directly over the house). What a treat!

On a nice weekend day, the thing to do is sit in the driveway with a beer and watch the pattern overhead to see what may pay a visit.

Saw a C-45 at Beverly, MA a few weekends ago, departed over my appartment. No other great sighitngs yet.

I heard a real deep rumble last Saturday, but my subdivsion has too may tree's in order to see what it was. It sounded like a C-47.

4 Michigan T-6s were enroute to Mattoon IL for formation training today. One IL based T-6 was already there.

Was that a blue-nosed Mustang that I saw flying in a north-westerly direction approximatley over the Warsaw/Plymouth area of Indiana a couple of weeks ago Vlado? What a lovely bird you have

Chico, did you hear about the F-18 that was at the Warsaw airport a few years ago? I sat one day and watched Jim Shuttleworth do touch-and-go's for the better part of an hour at that very same airport. Hang-out at the Huntington airport for T-6 formation training seminars (would like to have our F-104 back at Grissom though!).

I guess the best we can really hope for this time of year is to come in here and drool on the pix that Jack posts and learn all we can from Gary

Haven't seen any warbirds in the air yet this year, but I did drop by the Yankee Air Museum's hangar last month, and say the B-17, B-25, and C-47 getting prepped for the season. I'm thinking about going up there next saturday for Yankee Lady's annual polishing party.

Living just up the road from Kalamazoo, I got spoiled seeing the Air Zoo's birds buzzing about..unfortunately those days are long gone.

Thanks, but that was actually Excaliber......I was talking to him from Moonbeam (in Illinois) that day.
