Setting the Record Straight on the L-39
About a week after the crash of an Aero Vodochody L-39C during the air show in Titusville, Florida, ICAS heard that someone had started a rumor that the FAA may "restrict" (for lack of a better word) L-39s. ICAS has found no truth to this rumor. If, after their investigation of the crash, the NTSB concluded that there were problems with the aircraft, they would notify the FAA and they may suggest that the FAA's Aircraft Certification Services Division take action (e.g. issue an Airworthiness Directive, Special Airworthiness Bulletin, or an Aviation Maintenance Alert).
This has NOT taken place. An NTSB investigation often takes longer than 6 months to complete. In its preliminary report, the NTSB makes no mention of a mechanical issue with the aircraft.
