The Beijing Aeronautical Institute museum (the one with the P-61 on display) is well worth a visit - I was there in 1998.

Not sure about opening times (although it closes for lunch) - I got hold of a map of Beijing which showed it, then got a cab driver to take me there.

Believe it or not, I do have a few Beijing entries in the Locator...

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

The best advice I can give you is there is a Outback steathouse a few blocks from the forbiden city. Make sure and find the location before you go over there and don't drink the water.... ...Also if you have a wife go to the pearl market.. the pearls are cheap. The air quality is really bad..

There is TGI Friday's in Beijing, that I was part of the opening team.

Ask the hotel for a place to eat some Peking Duck.

Go explore, there are some great restaurants to eat at.

Datangshan is north of Beijing. It has a cold-war era hangar in the side of a mountain and lots of restored aircraft to see.

The Beijing Institute has the P-61 and a P-47 among other eastern bloc aircraft.

The People's Military Museum near Tiennamen Square has some aircraft as well.

All three will satisfy your warbird needs while in Beijing. I have been to all 3 and will be back in June.

Why in the wide world of sports would you go to China and eat at TGI Fridays or Outback?????? Nobody can ruin a perfectly good piece of beef like the Chinese...

Most important of all get some mirroed sun glass.... the kind so someone can't see your eyes.. If they start begging put those on and it scares the hell out of e'm.. It's something like you have a dark soul if they can't see your eyes... It works great! 8). And be carefull taking that bycycle around tineman square.. the'll try and ride you down a ally to mug you... They tried it with me and I told them I was with the FBI and and put on my mirroerd sun glasses.. I would have messed them up..

I went to the P61 museum today. Here is some pics. I took about a zillion but uploading them from here is a pain. So here is a random sampling. Items of interest are, P61, P47, It looks like an IL2, and it looks like a PE-2, and a T6. Here's just couple, there will be more when I get back. I went over the fence and the fat chinese dude got p1ssed. So hopefully I got something new.

OK, Jack, where is the pic of you getting busted? That would be funny!

If they keep an eye on the planes and keep people off, why do they look so vanalized?

Thanks for sharing you pics!
