I flew with one of the Douglas test pilots back in 1969-72 era when I was with Western Air Lines. He flew the C-47 with the Edo floats. I remember him saying there were 50 pairs of floats ordered and that they were stacked up at the Douglas factory that did the conversion.

It's real allright, have a look here: http://www.douglasdc3.com/float/float.htm

I seem to remember that this aircraft was at Fantasy of Flight in Florida. Is it still there?

Walnut Ridge stored at least three C-47 amphibs. The Base Museum has photos that show them parked near the stripping/scrapping area of the apron by a group of brand new C-54s. Not sure exactly how many were actually converted, but it wasn't many.

The Gooney on Floats is still up here in Maine, although sans floats, as some one hit a chuck-hole and snapped off one of the nose gear. She's partially disassembled at this time. Here she is in better days.

Don,
That's really a cool shot of the Float3 making a low pass. Got that 30's look about it for sure. If the Edo floats were at the Douglas factory, their probably recycled by now. I never go to see this thing but I'm glad some folks did and thank you for posting these photos.
