Regarding that Curtiss Hawk 75/P-36 in England. Is that regularly flown? Are there any video's on the net of it. If not, anyone here have the ability to get a video of it flying?

Thanks,
Nathan

Nathan...The only suggestion I've got would be to go to this link:

www.iwmshop.org.uk/index.html

In the SEARCH box, type in Flying Legends 2006. That'll give you an order site for the DVD/video from last year. It'll probably be in PAL format though so a US DVD/Video player won't usually handle it. I've got a couple of PAL format DVDs that WILL play on my computer. You might ask if they have a NTSC format. I ask every year and they always say, "No". Been that way since '04 when IWM or TFC's contract with Red Admiral expired and they couldn't come to an agreement on a new one. (IMHO, Red Admiral had a far better product than the current people.)

Mudge the helpful

Same cameraman...

Most relatively recent VHS/DVD players should play PAL and NTSC. Certainly the ones we buy this side of the pond do.

Same cameraman...different production people. I stand on my previous statement.
Also, I could be wrong but it seems to me I was told that the PAL format players will play NTSC also, but the NTSC format players won't play PAL. I know mine doesn't play PAL format and it's only 2 years old.

Mudge the opinionated

ps. I think I was wrong once before in 1953, but I could be mistaken.

Steve Patterson bought a PAL Sea Fury video (I think - may have been a DVD) a couple of years back from the FAA Museum and that certainly played OK.

Could be different for DVDs. Ours plays both, or at least, it says it does...

Mudge.

Check out if you can find a key on the internet to make your US player zone-free. Here in Europe you will find many websites which gives you detailed info as how to make that happen.

Buy a multi-region DVD player. When I moved to the US last year, I picked up a brand new Pioneer one (with warranty) from a dealer on ebay for $75, and it plays all my US and UK DVDs with no problem whatsoever. Even a Japanese disc I recently bought plays fine. Best $75 I've spent for a long time!
