Hi guys,

There may be a posibility to get couple of F86 for restoration. I am worried about their condition all together, since they were being sitting out in the fields from the early 80's. Hope for the best, but do you think that It would be possible at all to restore them to an airworthy condition?
Also , is there any AMO in Canada, who would do the maintenance on those jets? I know there is one Sabre registered in CDN...
How is it with the parts?

Thanks for any help...
Denis

I would think they could be restored to airworthy assuming no major corrosion on the critical parts. The key factor in restoration is the $$$ involved. Also, there are probably some airworthy (or near airworthy) F-86s one could find for less cost than it would take to restore the examples you are talking about.

There had been one for sale at Courtesy for a couple of years for around $260k (which I see is finally listed as having a "pending" sale). I suspect it would take you more than $260k to get one of those F-86s airworthy. But I could be wrong.

I am on the limited budget. Dude, I wish I had $250.000 to buy that bird. We'll see, got some cards in my sleeve.Reason for not selling that one for $250K? Don't know, I guess he wants too much...
The price is being put there by the owner who wants to make a fortune out of selling his obviously rare plane, at least in Canada.
If I had a quarter to spend, she'd be mine.
