Calling on all WIXers. We have located a microfiche that appears to have North American engineering drawings and blueprints for our PBJ. We don’t have a working reader/copier. I understand microfiche can be converted to DVDs. Any thoughts or help from you guys would be appreciated. Naturally we are looking for inflation fighting ways to get the job done i.e. donations/discounts etc.

Dan

Dan, this subject came up not too long ago. I believe Gary had a good source at a reasonable cost.

I'm pretty sure my dad gave me a microfiche reader, and I've never used it. I'll confirm, and it's yours if you can use it.

Dan: Check your local library reading rooms for fiche and film reader/printers. Free for looking and usually very cheap for prints. As you are on a budget, like the rest of us ( ), it gives you a chance to look at the info prior to comiting to have it printed. Then you can be selective in printing.

Ok stupid me thanks to a phone call from Captain Marc I might be wrong about calling this stuff microfiche. The media looks like 35mm film on a roll. Is that micro film or microfiche?

Film....Treat it gently and try not to touch anything but the edges as body oil will spread across the fron and back, smearing over the images.

I shudda known! Microfilm it is! Ok I need to either get a reader or I think it would be wiser to step in to the 21st century and digitalize this stuff.

Dan

Thanks guys

Ok after all of this I ( aka STUPID) have been informed by our great and illustrious leader crew chief Cap’n Marc that we have something like 25 or 30 rolls of microfilm. Does anybody know of a reader that is usable and dirt cheep that some nice war bird fan would love to discount or DONATE to our wing? I think that getting these digitalized might cost an arm and a leg. I will follow up on Gary’s contact but a cheep reader might be a better way to go.

Thanks Guys

Dan

Dan,

Middle item (of the 3 items included in this auction lot) looks to be a microfilm reader. Not long left until auction ends, and I don't know if the item works or how much it will cost to ship the 3 items from Florida if you won. :?

I must reiterate what Craig already suggested: Local library. I take my microfilm their regularly. Use of reader is free; $0.10 per hardcopy.
