Jack,
I do not know that much history of the Corsairs as I do about the Marine PBJs...but are they on a barge being prepared to dump into the ocean as were the PBJs of VMB-611?

They are being barged ashore at Pt Mugu.
Many were returned and refurbished to be used
by squadrons training to go overseas.

Thanks Jack,

I know that Pt. Mugu was established as a NAS after the end of WWII...it replaced NAAS Ventura County (Oxnard) and NAAS San Nicolas Island. Very early Pt. Mugu was used (established) for training ACORN units and Seabees from the nearby Port Hueneme Naval Construction Battalion Base before becoming the Pacific Missile Range. (BTW, I live about 12 miles from Pt. Mugu.)
