Hello WIXer's,

I'm looking for an A-26 for static restoration. An already dissassembled or incomplete 'basket case' type project would be perfect. This is wanted for display in a military vehicle museum.

Thanks in advance for any leads, needs to be in North America.

Clint

There is a basket case Invader that has been rotting at Buckeye airport in the West Phoenix area for many years. Not sure if it's for sale but it sure does need somebody to lavish some attention on it.

I think the sad part of this thread is you'll have a lot to choose from. I really wish there were more flying and more of a demand for them to be airworthy. :(

Can I hope to win the lotto even though I refuse to buy tickets? I don't want to pay my "poor tax" as the local Rescue Mission Director calls the lotto tickets.

Tim

Yes I agree. That is the main reason I choose the A-26 for a static project, not to mention it is one of my favorites. The Courtesy Invader for 90k is a good deal but sadly beyond my financial means.

From one of the earlier links I think someone mentioned AirSpray might have more fuselages than good wings (the spar AD).

I have a couple of leads already so I really appreciate the advice and leads wixers, keep em coming if you know of anything.

Thanks!

Clint

Hey Clint,

I'd totally suggest asking Air Spray about parts, or airframes. From my last understanding they still have a bunch of A-26's which means they must have quite a bit of spares. Then again, they might be more interested in keeping those spares until the stop using the A-26's. I don't know when that will be, but go check out their website and find a contact there. www.airspray.com. It looks like they have two of 'em for sale and ready to rock... but probably not the basket case you're looking for, eh?

Good luck,

David

I can think of two off the bat:

N9163Z, possibly Stateside by now but long for sale, disassembled, at the Guild of Automotive Restorers classic-car outfit in Bradford, Ontario; this is the one that used to sit atop Mackie's Van & Storage in Oshawa

N919P, out to pasture and partially disassembled at Walt Soplata's; this was recovered after ditching in Lake Michigan in the late sixties

As has been said, ruefully, those probably are indeed two more of many! Wishing you the best with this project.

S.

What happened to "Rude Invader" that sat out at Reilly's for ages?

Hi Beachgirl,

I used to hang out a Reillys some. Vern Raburn donated that A-26 to a museum in the Carolina's last summer.

Anyone in Wixland know the current status of Invader 44-35372? It looks like just the fuselage remains as a parts source for another invader restoration in CA.

Thanks.
