I know everyone's saddened with the recent tragedy at Airventure so I thought I'd post a few pics from today to lighten the mood (sorry about the poor quality).

Enjoy and may the pilot who parished rest in peace.

John

Nice. I wish I could be there to drool over all those warbirds.

Nice shots. Makes me want to go to the big show, but with the tragedies these last two years, I don't know anymore.

On second thought, seeing all those rare warbirds in one place is worth whatever it takes to be there. Next year I will make it -even if it's just for a day.

Elwyn,I'm pretty sure that the plexiglass nose came from a Coast Guard P4Y-2G (or PB4Y-2G,if you prefer)

Here's a link to a picture. It looks pretty close to me:

A couple of Hawkins and Powers 4Y's had the Coast Guard nose 30 years ago.

Looking closely at the CG pic you linked shows there are 5 horizontal dividers while the "mystery" part only shows 4. Thus the CG plane has at least 24 panes of plexi and the "mystery" part has 20. Different variant? Beats me.
Just casual observation.

Weren't the CG PB4Ys Navy hand me downs ? If so that could explain the differences with the nose. The aircraft had the nose and tail turrets removed as well as the side blister turrets. Is it possible that the aircraft were modified locally and that would account for nonstandard mods ?
