For tomorrow (Tuesday, 8:00am EST) it appears on my TV that the original "Dawn Patrol" will be substituted for the 8:00am showing of "Flight Commander".
This is good because they usually only show the later, Errol Flynn version
, but it's bad because I've never seen "Flight Commander".
I already Tivo'd the ones I need to see!

It looks like at some point the first "Dawn Patrol" was renamed "Flight Commander"!
I started to watch the beginning this morning before work and the story line and actors are all the same. Just my luck!

I got so used to Matt beating me to bumping this thread up the list, I forgot to today.
A Guy Named Joe is on right now..lot of good flying and background stuff here...P-38 stuff..whew!
Next is "Test Pilot", the Seversky SEV-S2 is the star here. Some folks were
discussing the P-43 lineage the other day, well here's a cousin. Enjoy!

One thing I like is that the sound of the P-38's is accurate. Many other films of the time just used generic radial engines for aircraft sounds.

Just got finnished watching Test Pilot Wow some really sharp looking B-17's B or C models ? And that Crash shot of the B-17 almost look real 
or was it ? The props were even stoping just before inpack . got a laugh out of the Oxygen set up too.

I had forgotten about this flick. How about the fella who stabbed the landing
of the CG-4 in front of the F-82..one Sierra Hotel landing. Then the glider "snatch" off of the
icefloe with the C-47. Human snatch next.. Cool B-17 SAR birds..and a coupe de grace with B-36's in formation for a finish shot!

Glen, those were actually a lot of very early YB-17s! At that time, 1937-38, the U.S.A.A.C. was very proud of this new airplane and wanted to show it off every time they got the chance. The taxiing and takeoff scenes was of course real footage but then the spinning out of control seen and crash landing would have had to have been some type of mock up or model, though for a model it was extremely convincable, I was really suprised! The acting was first rate as well. No wonder it's rated four stars. I noticed that oxygen setup as well...I think it is the same as used in "Dive Bomber" if I recall - just a tube.
I myself enjoyed watching the comedy greats/leaders this afternoon, "Laurel and Hardy," in one of my favorites of theirs, "The Flying Deuces."

Watched "A Guy Named Joe" last night. It was actually pretty good with a great cast. A few things that made me laugh and enjoy.
1- Early Mustangs painted as German fighters from that ever so secret German aircraft carrier. Guess in 43 no one knew the true state of their carrier program.
2- B-26's as Japanese bombers for the raid on the fighter base.
3- Lots of old birds, BT's, T-6's, early B-25's (I would think D's), early Mustangs, Lightnings, B-26's, a Douglas Racer and my fav a Lodestar.
4- The wife asked me what I was watching, told her the story line and then she reminded me that they made a remake of "Joe". Anyone remember "Always" with Richard Dryfuss, Holly Hunter and John Goodman. I remembered it more for the A-26 and C-119 fire bombers.
