A few airplane pics from vacation

Mon Aug 06, 2007 3:51 pm

I stopped by the Texas air Museum - Slaton branch (just south east of Lubbock ie; BFE) The gates were closed early Saturday morning but you could see the yard fairly well.

"Sabre" is correct.

Hmmm...it's pretty small, looks like a large insect, and has spots like a tiger so I was going to say "Tigermoth".  :P

See the resemblance??

Propane tank? I thought it was a Japanese one man suicide sub! What else would it be doing in a Museum?

I'm guessing it is a training module?

Quick! Alert the U.S. Government! That museum has an F-14 Tomcat, and it's all in one piece! It must be confiscated immediately and destroyed so that the Iranians don't smuggle it out of the country and use it to destroy freedom as we know it!

Sorry, it's late, and I'm tired and cranky. . .

I am thinking it was a "Boilerplate Model" capsule test article of some kind. I have seen a few of them around the country. NASA even launched a few of them. I don;t know anything specific about this one.

I drove through Melrose, NM on July 27th, and the F-100 had had the paint removed; they evidently finished the paint job very quickly!

Looks nice.

WOW!!! I've been driving through Slaton for years either when I lived in Lubbock or when I was going to visit my kids in Lubbock and never knew those aircraft were there.
