This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

So today on my lunch break i saw a T-6 Texan fly over, and in my joy of seeing a warbird in 7 months and in this quiet town i "raced" down to the airport and saw that the Texan was painted in Japanese colors. I didnt ask the pilot why but was it used in a movie? I know it was a CAF aircraft pilot and he was a very cool guy i didnt catch his name but he told me he was flying it to Kansas City for an air show then he was going to go to the Oshkosh Museum to test fly a restored F-86 Sabre. i guess this guy who is older flys into Mcalester Oklahoma from time to time to refuel i was hoping i could catch him flying out but i had to get back to work i was an hour over, but it would be great to see him again to ask him how it all went.

If it had 310 on tail,
I believe that is the Kate based at San Marcos, TX in Centex Wing hangar. Bill Powers used to fly it but I'm not sure who is flying it now or if it's still at HYI. Could be proven wrong on all this though...CRS and all that stuff.
Try this link.....is that it??

Yea LadyO2pilot thats the one i saw. The pilot was in either his late fifties or sixties, he said he has been flying for the CAF for like 27 years i think.

That would define a lot of us......LOL But as I said not sure who is flying that Kate these days; Bill is a bit older than that range.

If he was going to later fly a F-86 it would have to be Ron Iberg. He would certainly be happy with your guess of age!

hmmmm good one Ober.......my blonde brain was not thinkin about that "young" CAF guy. Everytime I see him he is a different bird. Think you are probably correct on this one.

So, would that be Mr. Mark's Sabre that Courtesy sold? Ready to fly overseas so soon?

I would not want to say Ron Iberg is old, or even older, BUT when he was a boy growing up he had a pet dinosoar.
