nope, I inherited the Grumman photographs when my friend died and I thought he would like the idea of so many people enjoying them so I post them. I do know WWII planes, but I really don't know or care much about planes without props. I do have the signs that were posted on the engines and it seems like a good rainy day game. My real interest in tanks and artillery....but airplanes are good also....

I have about 80 pics from Evergreen I will post tomorrow...and I should thank Scott and whoever else runs this site for giving me a place to post, thanks a lot

Because they kept crashing.

Bitter response....., I know.............. but my grandparents died on a Turkish Airlines DC10 in France in the 70's when the cargo door failed in flight....

Stoney: The early -10's had a propensity to blow cargo doors open or completely off the aircraft in flight. That coupled with a very poorly designed engine removal rig and procedure that caused significant stress on the rear pin on each wing engine and subsequent pin failure, earned it the nickname of the DeathStar. It bore a striking resemblance to the L-1011, which had the name of the TriStar, so it's got hung with a moniker that played off that name and reflected how many of the crews felt about the early aircraft.
