Guess What It Is

This arrived at Creve Coeur Airport today. Can you guess what it is? The first correct answer (it must be a very complete and accurate answer)wins an oddball turret part of my choice. *Don't get excited, I'm overstocked on turret relief tubes so that's what you are likely to get.

Wow, that was fast. Steve wins! But I think I owe 51fixer a consolation prize of some sort, it was almost a tie. Cliff Robertson's 108/Nord will be on vacation with us for a while. I was expecting more guesses like Tulio's, it looks a bit like a Fairchild when it's covered in this boat wrap material. The move was done by Michael Lovett of Polar King International in Fort Wayne, Indiana and it was very clear that he and the company have moved a few airplanes. This was the cleanest, safest, most cost effective, and professional airplane move I have ever been involved with.

I may have to confess to an unfair advantage..I used to volunteer at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo, where that particular airplane lived for many years (although I didn't realize it was that specific airframe under the shrink wrap!) Great to see she's still kicking about..is she currently airworthy?

Here's a snapshot of her in Kalamazoo, ca. late '90s. She'd been pushed outside while some planes were being shuffled around in the museum. Does Cliff Robertson still own her? When she left the museum I was told she'd been sold.

Definitely not a stupid question; different type though.

The aircraft in which Jim Garner and Donald Pleasance escaped was a Bücker Bü 181 "Bestmann".
