Today, in the Baltimore Sun, General Motors announced that it was closing its Broening Highway plant, 1100 jobs to be lost. This plant, aside from producing cars for nearly 69 years, was the site of some of the facilities of Eastern Aircraft Division of General Motors. This is where the tail groups and some outer wing components of the TBM Avenger were produced, as well as where some of the Grumman FM2 Wildcats parts and pieces were made.
