Hey Jack,

That picture of the P-38 production line appears to be in excellent clarity. Not fuzzy at all. The sharpness is quite amazing for that time period.

Thanks for posting those.

The pics are great, as usual. The Hedy Lamarr picture caused me to do a little research on her, she must have made better nose art, than a wife.

Has anyone seen a B-25 with the nose art called "The ink squirts" ? I believe I saw the pic in the latest or previous Air Classics. This is a really cool nose art with cartoon characters hanging out of the nose windows. I will see if I can find the BG or BS.

I read the story about that P-47 a long time ago. I can't remember the details exactly, but it was either taking off or landing and the ordnance it was carry detonated. Maybe someone else has more details.

The P-47 is missing the tire on the R/H main wheel. Might have blown on TO or as a result of the wild ride it took. I don't think any ammo blew. The torn skin on the left wing covers the gear well. The ammo is outboard of the guns and that area is intact.
The P-38 photo is much earlier than 45. The P-38s are earlier than the J model. Small radiators, curved windshield and early oil cooler lower cowl setup. Also I believe they had some netting above later on although I wouldn't be surprized if they worked outside of the camo netting.
