Bomberflight,
Please accept my apologies for "lifting" a picture of the prettiest B24 around. I printed it out and it was used on a table with the late Capt. Tripp's medals, memorablia, original A-2 Jacket and a model of a B24 with Black tails and Skull and Crossed bones. A tri-folded American Flag was the corner-piece.

Today we say Goodbye to Karl Tripp, a veteran, but more than a veteran.

I met him only once, in this same room, at the funeral of his wife Ann.
But I came to know of him through one of his step-children.

She told me he did, “something with the bombs” and the model he had had two tails_
His service to his nation was in the Pacific.
She and her child know more about Peace because Karl knew more about War.

So maybe he knew about flying the long expanses of ocean, so beautiful but so threatening to an aircrew if the machine made by the hands of women and men was damaged and the Airfield, Home, Mother and Father,
All that he was fighting for_
All that was worth fighting for was so far away.

After the war Karl became a Petroleum Engineer and made a successful career.
But he never lost his pride in his service and his patriotism.
We gather today_ Proof that he was respected_ Proof that he was loved.
And now that he has laid down his tools
May the Lord take him in his arms_ And tell him Job Well Done
