Work on FM104 started ?

Michel, The picture you have posted is a fairly recent one.
In the background of the picture on the left hand side, you can see the latest aquisition for the restoration, namely the front section of FM118. This has been bought recently from the previous owner, to provide the floor section which was cut out of 104 ,when it was mounted on the pylon.
There appears to have been a lot of cleaning and paint removal. TAM were lucky enough to receive a grant to help fund the tools to start the restoration. From when I last saw the restoration, they have put the tools to good use.

So whom was the owner of FM118 ?

Did Nanton sold their nose section ?

Is there more to FM118 than the nose section and BCATP wing sections ? The Nanton list quotes

I wonder what will happen to the wing sections in outdoor storage at BCATP. I saw them a while back and there was not a lot left in any case.

Yes they are recent pics of FM104. She is coming along nicely! I was pleased that the cockpit of FM118 went to a good home! I hope that one day what remains of 118s cockpit can be built as a static hands on display like ours in Nanton.
We still ahve a small section of rear fuselage in storage at naanotn but it is very badly damaged...

The nose section of 118 was bought from it previous owner who was in the UK( Bernie Slater) I guess it never got around to going to the UK

TAM obtained a grant to buy the nose section. I did hear that there was some interest in doing something with the rest of the remains which are still at BCATPM at Brandon. There are some fittings left that can be re-used. FM118 was pretty much shot to pieces on the range.
My understanding, is that the Nanton front section is a replica which was constructed for a film.

The cockpit section isa replica at nanton but it is equipped with as any original parts as possible.. :0)
