Of course there have been several threads regarding the tv show "Wing nuts", most of which has been some good intelligent discussion, so I watched a couple of episodes and agree that there really is nothing there that gets me worried as an aircraft enthusiast. Besides, the free market will have a person that needs to finish his aircraft project pay more for a good part than someone who wants a themed lamp post....

But while daydreaming on my weekly airliner ride, I thought of a Letterman style 10 countdown list of things I would not want to see on the show. So, here goes:

10) Set of landscape lights made from Norden bombsights
9) PBY blister lounge chair
8 ) 37mm cannon (from P-39) grand ballroom chandelier
7) B-17 ball turret hot tub
6) ME109 landing strut bar stool
5) B-29 nose section shower stall
4) B-36 wing porch roof
3) Lancaster bombardier bubble bartop popcorn popper
2) A6M2 canopy fish tank
...and the #1 moto-a-nono is
1) Corsair main spar swing set!

Well, they are making door stops from B-17 propeller hubs. See the link.

http://www.motoart.com/presite/pages/gal_sculp.html

They are also advertising "scupltures" from P-51K, P-63 KingCobra, DC-3, DC-6 and B-50 propellers.

..and the worst of all of this, is that with the show on, if anything they will gain some popularity and most of all, more customers. I guess we can only hope the show only lasts this season, but still......the poison's already in the punch fellas......

I don't know, a connie quonset hut sure sounds like a good workshop. Actually out here in Tucson, a few airplane scrappers and rebuilders have a KC-97 or B-29 Quonset hut. I even saw a B-29 tail fin on 4th Ave in front of a fashion store, in the bad side of town.

These guys are trying to hollywoodize airplanes--that's just weird. Did you notice all the bikini clad ladies hanging around the airplane parts? That's a new one..I've never seen bikini clad girls at the airport. In fact that's the last place they'd want to be. How many guys who tinker w/ airplane parts to that degree are even married any more?

Weeeeeeirrrrrrdddd....

And this is a bad thing?

Remember, no P-51's were harmed in the making of this show.

....Bastards!

Say, think you could get me some more info on this tail fin? I'd have a much better use for it than a clothes rack! B29Gunner25@hotmail.com

First, we'll need to identify it. I'll photograph it here pretty soon..Can't you use a KC-97 tail on the B-29?
