Didn't see it in the registry and was wondering what became of her since being plucked from the sea.

for the P-40 to be sitting in the ocean that long im surprised that its not more corroded then that. but still thats interesting, i wonder who flew it?

Looking through the crud they appear to be 86th FS "Comanches"
79th FG. Nothing unusual about the markings.

On display in italy.Was in good nick till they cut the wings off with a chop saw.What a mistake that was.IDIOTS! They say they had to move it quickly for some reason.Obviously nobody involved had a clue how to take the wings off. Some people have no business recovering these planes.

the italian parks service said they had a couple of hours iirc once it was on the beach to remove it or they would lose it,they wanted to remove the wings properly but the park service would budge on the time constraints so they had no choice,overall i thin they have done a pretty good job with this p40 and i think their long term plans are to restore it properly.

The time to take the wings off is nothing(2 hours with basic tools).They also toppled the crane onto the airplane as well.Makes you wonder dont it.
