Pleased to announce that yesterday we unloaded ex Orenburg Yak-3Ua c/n0470106 here at Omaka airfield Blenheim. The Allison V-12 is being put together in the U.S. and some repair work will be necessary on the airframe as it was involved in an 'incident' at Reno a few years ago, which caused some damage to the prop blades and some of the fairings, lower cowlings and knackered the wings ( replaced by those of a Yak 11 ).
Nice to have some 'big iron ' in amongst all the wood and fabric though

Hi Dave - have fun with it

The guys here in Brisbane at FlyingFighters have two in the hanger now (a 3 and a 9) so I am sure they can help out with war stories etc. There is also one I believe in Victoria now so things are looking up. All that needs to happen is for somebody to buy one each of the NZ polikarpovs and the La9 in Brisbane and we will have a real little soviet air force.

Yes I would also love to see a Stomovik (Spelling naf but you know what I mean) as well as some of their WW11 bombers restored as they are still available in reasonable shape.
I believe there is even a project to rebuild a few of the early MiG aircraft which would look great.
