I don't know if this is a Douglas or Martin B-26 known to be based at Deerfield Park Airport, Phoenix, Arizona in the mid-1960's. Could also be Deer Valley Airport. Didn't find anything in the Warbird Registery. Anyone have any clues?

Gary,

Probably Deer Valley Airport. I'm not sure if there ever was a Deerfield airport in Az.

And I think this should be A-26C N9401Z which was a tanker based at Deer Valley during the period. N9401Z was built as A-26C 44-35524, by the way. It later went to Canada as C-FCUI.

Do any pics exist of this airframe?

There is one in my B-26 Invader book but I don't have it handy to post right now. But there is at least one view out there.

Okay, thanks. The Civil registration was on a Government document, and I suppose that during the course of a criminal investigation, that a Civil Registration Number that was close, was about as good as a grenade in a horse shoe game. I believe you are correct in your findings. May go in an edit the piece, ya know add more information as it's gained.

Is this plane still in service.

By the way, according to my records it was the 826th A-26 built at the Douglas-Tulsa (DT) plant.

I'll try to remember to look and see if we have any shots of it at the factory.
