More artwork...

Well, here's some more aviation goodness for the eyeballs. This one is a drawing I recently completed of Jack Ilfrey's P-38 earning a two-fer the hard way. Enjoy!

Your drawings look so much like the 1940s vintage stuff I've seen. If I squint my eyes just right I can almost see Steve Canyon in the background! Keep up the great work!

The original of that picture, my friends, will soon be on my "Jack Ilfrey" wall. :D
Many thanks to Barry.

Anyway I could get a copy for my collection?

Wed Dec 12, 2007 6:51 am

Well, as Mudge mentioned, he now owns the original artwork. I made a high-quality scan of the art before shipping, though, so I could make prints available online through Zazzle or Cafepress or some other print shop, if you like. PM me if you are interested...

See, Mudge, your artwork is appreciating already

Hi redfox,

I really like your artwork. My I suggest for some feature ideas? How about a drawling of an early B-17C/D...and for another how about a Midway Buffalo flying along next to a lone Wildcat shooting down a Val? If you'd make these i'd surely would like to buy one off from ya. :D

Just an idea...now get drawing!

Joking aside nice artwork.

Fritz, I agree with Nathan! You goota do us a Buffalo! There's just something tha makes me get misty eyeed when I think of our men going up in that bird!

If I had to fly a Buffalo into combat with some Japanese Zeroes, I think I'd get a little misty-eyed, too :-)

Seriously, if anyone wants to commission something, I'm more than happy to make something for you (PM me for details). Otherwise, I generally follow my muse(although I DO pay attention to feedback...I've got a list of planes that I keep hearing mentioned around here that I intend to get to sooner or later). Right now, I've simply been drawing planes I haven't drawn yet, so that I can add t-shirt designs to my gift shop

Typically, I work up a drawing of a particular plane, do the outlines with a brush and ink, scan it, vectorize it, paint in the color (in Flash, no less) and poof! t-shirt design. I then finish the line work on the ink drawing and add some action elements, mostly just for fun and practice.

For example, here's a line drawing I did of a Zero recently:

and here is the resulting t-shirt design:

I hope this way that I will eventually have a gift shop that will have a t-shirt devoted to just about anyone's favorite airplane.
