You bet I hope you can find it a good home. I thought about forwarding it to the Minnesota Wing, but they just brought home a PT-22...

Interesting UC-78 nicknames (lifted from Warbird Alley site): The Bamboo Bomber; Useless-78, The Wichita Wobbler; Brasshat; Double-Breasted Cub; Boxkite; Rhapsody in Glue; San Joaquin Beaufighter. I especially like the last one.

I believe she's a project, but the CAF did just get a near flying PQ-14 donation and a flying N3N! Correct me if I'm wrong, Gary.

I haven't personally checked on this UC-78 yet, but if given the "go ahead," I certainly will. I do, however, believe it's a project that requires just a small amount of work (depending on your perspective) to get it flying.

We did just get the Culver (PQ-14) donated, but I don't know the status of it yet, nor have I heard about the N3N. But you've gotta remember, I've not been one of the "important people" for very long yet, so I'm still trying to figure out what's going on. ;-)

Hey,
If you guys hear any info about the donated N3N, pass it along. I would like to know which one it is.

I'm pretty sure it was an N3N, but it could have been a stearman... They mentioned it at the GS meetings last month.

It was flying within the last five years. I've been told all it needs is an engine. The one on it has a bad main bearing. People interested in sponsoring the bird should attend the Janruary meeting. PM me for details...

I was one of the Mechs to go pick the PT up for the Minnesota Wing.
It was flown 3 years ago, had thrust bearing issues in the engine which sat in pieces for the last three years. Engine needs an overhaul, but the airframe is in excellent condition. Should need very little restoration. We hope to have it flying by June time frame.
