Sadly passed away today. Without his knowledge & books the 357th FG wouldn't be as it is today. My condolences to his family,
Dave

This is sad news. I had the chance to help with a mini reunion held in Seattle a couple of years ago and got to meet Merle. He was avid about preserving the 357th history and keeping the veterans, families and friends active. I learned of the passing of another 357th ace a few weeks ago just yesterday, Arval Roberson who flew "Passion Wagon". We are all indebted to these veterans.

I am so sad because of the last year, our seemingly forever ageless veterans of an era gone by have been heading west at an alarming rate.

I am glad that many of them share the stories of those times, so that we can learn from those and pass the values of yesteryear onto our next generations of family members.

I am proud to contribute to thos forum and help preserve this information. As I feel since the internet, the information is and has been more valuable than ever before in history.

God Bless all the troops past and present and God Speed to those who have gone before us, as we are forever in your debt for providing us with the conformt and warmth of the blanket of freedom.

I salute you all.

Man... Merle was a great guy, and a generous person. He will be missed...
