Glacier Girl to fly in Palm Springs

Katie Ruark

The Palm Springs Air Museum is having a lecture and flight demonstration to honor the “Glacier Girl” recovery.

In 1942, a plane went down in Greenland. While the pilots were rescued, the planes were left. In 1992, 40 people returned to the scene and burrowed through the ice to bring the plane back up. In 2002, that plane, “Glacier Girl” took flight again.

Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. and Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. museum patrons can meet with Bob Cardin, the man responsible for “Glacier Girl’s” recovery.

Jan. 19 they will also hold a flight demonstration of “Glacier Girl.”

Admission to both days’ events included in a special $40 price.

The Air Museum is located at 745 N. Gene Autry Trail.
