I've been asked by a friend of mine to see what details I can find regarding B17F-30-VE 42-5897 named Roundtrip Jack. Google has provided some information such as it having been based with 550th Squadron of 385th Bomb Group at Great Ashfield during WWII. It seems it arrived in the UK in June 43 and was destroyed on the ground in September 44.
I guess what I'm interested in now are any details as to the missions it went on, how it was destroyed, who crewed it and what happened to the crew?
Any information will be gratefully received and any photographs which may be out there would be great to see.

Many Thanks
